Ever-Anticipated Promise

Many verses of Qur'an and Islamic Hadithes verify that the Ahl-Ol-Bait (PBUT) were introduced by all previous Prophets (PBUT) to their nations as those by whom the conclusion of this world would be accomplished and fulfilled; let us look at the following Qur'anic verse as a sample of this belief:

And indeed We have written in the Zaboor (Psalms), after the Dhekr (Torah, …) that My Righteous Servants shall inherit the earth.”

(Qur'an, Surah Anbiya:105)

All the Shi'ah commentators, and some Sunni interpreters are of the opinion that the phrase ‘My Righteous Servants’ in this verse implies Imam Mahdi (PBUH).

(Sunni documents: Eqdud Dorar by Sollami Shaafe’ee, p. 217, …)

This verse -among many other verses- confirms that the Reappearance of Imam Mahdi (PBUH) and his Universal Government have been discussed in the Psalms and other Divine books; i.e. the nations of the previous Prophets (PBUT) were very much aware of this fact. It is significant to note that such Glad Tidings are still available in these scriptures despite their distortions. (For the corresponding statements in the current Bible, Old Testament, book of Psalms, we refer you to the article: "David's Book of Psalms" in this site.)

Surely, when previous Divine Books had mentioned Imam Mahdi (PBUH), Qur'an, being the last and most complete, has also mentioned this Ever-Anticipated Promise. Out of the hundreds of Qur'anic verses which verify Imam Mahdi (PBUH) and his Divine mission, yet we present another one:

He is the One Who sent His Messenger with Guidance and True Religion so that He may dominate it over all religions, even if the polytheists dislike it.”

(Qur'an, Surah Taubah:33)

(This verse with slightly different wordings has been also mentioned in Surahs Fath and Saf)

According to Shi'ah and Sunni interpreters, this dominance will be achieved only after the Appearance of Hazrat Mahdi (PBUH).

(Shi'ah documents: Al-Mohajjah, p.86, …; Sunni documents: Tafseer Kabeer by Fakhr Raazi, vol. 16, p. 40, …)

With all our hearts and souls, we implore Allah the Almighty to destine the Reappearance of Hazrat Mahdi (PBUH), at the earliest, as Promised by the Holy Qur'an, and other divine Books.

Aammeen (Amen)
