Qaa'em, the Imam of today and tomorrow
A meaningful and profound epithet of Imam Mahdi (PBUH) is “Qaa'em”, which means "the Riser", implying the one who will Rise.
Treading the footsteps of the eighth Imam, Ali son of Moosa, Imam Reza (PBUH) -the great great grandfather of Mahdi, who whenever this title was uttered, used to stand on his feet placing his right hand on his head (Montakhab-Ol-Athar, …)- the Shi'ah do the same, to announce that they love, obey and Anticipate their Imam, to respond to his continuous awareness, to express their readiness at all times, …, and they pray for his reappearance.
A very delicate point which deserves special consideration by all Anticipating hearts, is the beautiful fact that while the Appearance of Imam Mahdi (PBUH) is the most definite future phenomenon, but he is also our loving and caring Imam today -he who is kinder than the kindest father, more benevolent than the most caring mother, nearer than the most loving brother, closer than the closest friend, …-; then, why do we not call him moment by moment, and ask for his help in every thing we do, second by second?!!!
Let us not forget him today as our beloved infallible Imam, while we are praying for and Anticipating his future Appearance … .
