Divine Relief

Imam Saadeq(PBUH) has said:

When hardships upon children of Israel became too lengthy, they -for 40 days- shed tears cried and called God. God revealed to Moses and Aaron (PBUT) that He would soon emancipate them from clutches of Pharaoh. And, in this manner God reduced their hardships and pains one hundred and seventy years.

If you (the Shi'ah) do the same, surely God shall bestow Relief(Faraj) upon you, but if you do not, then this matter shall be prolonged to its utmost limit.”

(Behaar-Ol-Anwaar, Vol. 13)

Before the Prophet Moses(PBUH), children of Israel were living under clutches of Egyptian Pharaohs as slaves. When Moses was being born, the Pharaoh -who had heard about a savior appearing to save the children of Israel- ordered all boys born to Israelites to be killed. Miraculously God saved Moses and he was raised in the Pharaoh's palace, later Moses left Egypt. Hardships and pains on children of Israel became too hard to bear. Therefore, they decided to resort to praying and crying, begging God for forgiveness and asking His Almighty for Relief. Imam Saadeq(PBUH) has said that when they chose to turn to God, the Compassionate and Merciful, Lord told Moses and Aaron -Moosa and Haaroon- (PBUT) that He would bestow Divine Relief upon them one hundred and seventy years sooner than the maximum of previously destined four hundred years. For this matter, Moses and Aaron were sent to Pharaoh and finally emancipated the children of Israel from clutches of the oppressor .

Imam Saadeq (PBUH), in this heavenly statement has stated that the Shi'ah should choose to do the same.

The noteworthy point is that the children of Israel did not get used to their bad conditions and did not forget God's promise of Relief. Today, it is vital for us not to get used to this unbalanced world too; Today humanity is the slave of poverty, hunger, oppression, corruption, crime, war, disease, injustice, sadness, loneliness, dishonesty,… , and this kind of a world away from God is not the world which God wants his people to live in. Even if you and I for a period of time have a fairly tolerable life, still we are not safe and further more, what kind of a human can watch his brothers and sister suffer and not care? Human has been trying to do it his way for centuries and from time to time, he has even achieved certain temporary reliefs but without Divine Rulership on earth, corruption and oppression show up in a different manner every day and it is again, humankind who suffers.

Imam Saadeq (PBUH) reminds us that the only true and comprehensive Relief is the Divine Relief (Faraj)which God has promised. It is us who should choose to confess to God that we need Him and we are finally ready to try it His perfect way rather than our imperfect ways which we have been doing for ages. It is us who should choose to sincerely ask God for forgiveness and say that we are sorry for growing farther and farther away from Him and obeying His rules. It is only then as said by Imam Saadeq (PBUH) -whose words are the manifestation of God's Word -that surely God shall allow the appearance of the Saviour, Imam Mahdi (PBUH), to occur sooner. Remember, God has promised that the time of Appearance is not a set time and it depends upon us; that time is when the sky of human dreams shall become colorful with the rainbow of piety, chastity, honesty, humanity, unity, beauty, justice,… . Otherwise, the matter of lack of Divine Governorship on earth by infallible representatives of God, shall last to its maximum possible time and that means unnecessary prolongation of man-imposed human hardships and pains.
