Prophet, humble or not ?!

The Prophet Mohammad (PBUH&HP) had such great manners and ethics that Allah has admired him in Qur'an:

And most surely, you (Mohammad) are of tremendous and sublime (Azim) morality.

(Qur'an, Surah Qalam, verse 4)

Some day a person who had never met the Prophet (PBUH&HP), asked Imam Ali (PBUH) about the Prophet's moral traits and behavior which Qur'an designated, as Azim (tremendous and sublime). Imam Ali (PBUH) responded by referring to Qur’anic verses which consider every thing in this world as scant and Qalil (Qur’an, Surah Nesa’, verse 77; Surah Tobah, verse 38;...). Imam (PBUH) continued by directing the attention of that person to the fact that Qur'an considers this whole world as scant and Qalil, but the Prophet's behavior as Azim and tremendous. This comparison clearly shows how wonderful and perfect, the prophet's ethics and manners were.

Everything the Prophet did was perfect and his humbleness was one of his virtues which has been admired frequently. For instance, Thomas Carlisle -a Scottish historian and scholar of the 19th century A.D.- in his book “the life of Mohammad” has mentioned many views regarding the Prophet of Islam such as the facts that Mohammad (PBUH&HP) used to live with the people; he used to wash his own clothes; he used to repair his own shoes; he used to consult with the people and then rule over them; no Emperor in history was ever like him; he worked very hard for 23 years; .... .

On the one hand, Divine humbleness was bestowed upon the Prophet (PBUH&HP) by Allah, but on the other hand, Allah had also asked the Prophet to talk about the blessings which Allah had bestowed upon him so that the people may learn about the Prophet's high status and realize his greatness and obey and follow him :

(O' Prophet!) but, as for the favors and bounties of your lord, do announce and talk about .

(Qur'an, Surah D(Z)oha, verse 11)

Therefore, we see many verses of Qur'an and Hadithes in which the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH&HP) talks about himself and introduces himself to us :

... I follow only that which is Revealed to me; Say: Are the blind and the seeing ones alike? Will you then not think?!

(Qur’an, Surah An’aam, verse 50)

In this verse, by Allah's command, the Prophet is introducing himself as a person who does exactly as Allah commands and then the prophet invites us to think and realize that the rest of us -who do not receive Divine Revelations- are in darkness -just like a person without eyesight- and thus, a person with Divine vision has to take our hands and guide us in this Path to Salvation and Eternity; that Divine person is, the Prophet (PBUH&HP). Many Hadithes follow a similar format; the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH&HP) has said:

I am the city of Knowledge and Ali is the gateway to it; any one who wishes the city of Knowledge, so he should enter from its entrance .(Shi'ah documents: Behar-Ol-Anwaar,...)(Sunni documents: Kanzol-Omal; Al-Manaqeb, Kharazmi Hanafi; Kefaayat, Ganji Shafe'i;...)

The Prophet said to Ali (PBUT):

I am your brother and you are mine; I am chosen for the Prophet-hood and you are for the Imamat; I am with and Saaheb of Tanzil and you are with and Saaheb of Ta'wil; you and I are the fathers of this nation.

(Behar-Ol-Anwaar,...)

This is how we learn about the chosen-ones; this is how we know who to turn to, who to seek guidance from, who to learn from, ... .

Mohammad's chosen successors (12 Infallible Imams -PBUT-) -as the upholders of the Prophet's Sunnah and established traditions- have done the same; by Allah's command, they have also introduced themselves for one reason, so that we may not lose the Path to everlasting Salvation.

Imam Ali (PBUH) has said:

... if it was not for one verse in the Book of Allah, I would not have said what I am going to say here; Allah has said:”but, as for the favors and bounties of your Lord, do announce and talk about .”...

(Behar-Ol-Anwaar,..)

In this Hadith the Imam told people that he was about to leave this world and he said that whomever -after him-would claim any of the virtues of himself and the Prophet's progeny (which the Imam was about to present in the Hadith), would be a liar, i.e. Any one claiming to be the Divine successor of the Prophet ...;then, the Imam introduced himself and the Prophet's progeny(PBUT).

At the time of Imam mahdy's (PBUH) Appearance, the Imam shall stand next to Ka'bah and say:

The Baqiyat-O-Llaah (the Remained by Allah) is best for you; if you are the Believers”(Qur'an, surah Hoode, verse 86); I am the Remained by Allah (Baqiyat-O-Llaah).

(Behaar-Ol-Amwaar,...)

Truly, how can we -who do not receive Divine Revelations and are in darkness- ever thank Allah for showing us the Way to Salvation, through the light of Mohammad and his progeny?!
