Value of human – I

In going through the pages of human history, we observe that factors such as race, color, nationality, ... have caused separation within human societies. It is interesting that Qur'an indicates that it should be exactly the opposite:

O' people! Surely We have created you from one male and one female, and We have set you, tribes and branches, so that you get to know each other… .

(Qur'an, Surah Hojaraat, verse 13)

In this verse, Allah has indicated that different races, colors,... have been created, so that humankind may try to get to know one another and closer, and not further away! In another words, this variety is for recognition, not for separation. Unfortunately, throughout the ages, malevolent, arrogant and self-centered people -for their own worldly benefits- have used differences, to cause separation. Humankind have actually drawn virtual lines and borders around themselves and have created imaginary boundaries; while Islam looks at human and who he is, not at his race, color, nationality, financial status, ...; in the continuation of the same verse, we read:

surely the most honorable of you with Allah, is the one among you with the most "Taqwa" (piety,… ); certainly Allah is, Knowing, Aware.

(Qur'an, Surah Hojaraat, verse 13)

The most respected, honored, dignified, the greatest human -in the eyes of Allah- is he/she who is the most pious, he/she who has the most "Taqwa" and piety; being a man or a woman, white or black or red or yellow or ..., from the east or west or ..., from one country or nationality or another, ..., makes absolutely no difference whatsoever; this signification is what the Prophet (PBUH&HP) has stated in regard to this very profound verse (Tafsir Jaame',… ). These factors are not what make a human; these are only external differences. In the same manner that there are different flowers with variety of colors and fragrances, there are different humans with variety of colors and characteristics, too. The celestial ideology of Islam is above and beyond all virtual lines of separation.

If the greatest and most honored human -according to Qur'an- is the most pious and with the most "Taqwa", but who does Qur'an consider as pious and with Taqwa? Is a person who has good manners (i.e. one who -in every day life matters- does not lie, cheat,… ), but does not believe in and obey Allah and His chosen-ones, is considered a pious individual with Taqwa, according to Qur'an? Let us read together, other heavenly and guiding verses from Qur'an in which, certain characteristics of people with Taqwa and piety are specified:

This Book -No doubt in it- is Guidance for the Mottaqeen (those with Taqwa); those who believe in the "Ghaib" (Unseen,… ), and perform Salaat, and from the sustenance which We have bestowed upon them, they give to others; and those who believe in that which has been sent to you (the Prophet Mohammad -PBUH&HP-) and in that sent to those before you (previous Prophets -PBUT-), and they have certitude about the Hereafter; they are upon Guidance from their Lord, and they are the delivered ones.

(Qur'an, Surah Baqarah, verses 2-5)

Based on Qur'an, the only criterion by which people can be categorized, is their "Taqwa", i.e. their belief in the Ghaib (unseen), … (we also invite you to read the article: "Absolutely doubt-free" in this site). Of course, a person who truly believes in and obeys Allah should have the very best manners too, and with the pure intention of serving and thanking Allah for His infinite bounties,, and not for gaining appreciation, recognition, worldly status and… .

Therefore according to Qur'an, honor, dignity, integrity and greatness of humankind can not be measured based on his race, nationality, color, financial and social status,..., and not even based on his good manners alone, rather it must be measured based on his true beliefs and obedience of Allah

Although in this world, people are still categorized based on their race, color, wealth, social classification, ... but these transient and man-made values are not really and eternally significant; true humanity is above and beyond these shallow measures; unfortunately, some humans who have stayed away from Divine values, are still involved in these very serious, unintelligent and selfish problems and have not yet become civilized enough -in spite of all their technological advances- to realize the reality of humankind!

O' our beloved Mahdi! Believing in you, is the most real thing to believe in, which it is the celestial indication of human's "Taqwa" and true civilization, and it defines humankind's identity and humanity; you are closer to us than ourselves, only if we open our eyes and hearts... .
