Humbleness, submission and love

Imam Saadeq (PBUH) has said:

Islam is built upon five things; Salaat (obligatory prayers), Zakaat (financial obligations), Hajj (special pilgrimage), Sawm (fasting) and Wilayat (Divinely bestowed lordship of Mohammad and his progeny -PBUT-); and nothing has ever been called for, as much as Wilayat.

But people have accepted four and forsaken Wilayat; I swear by Allah, if a person prays all nights and fasts all days and dies without Wilayat, his/her praying and fasting shall not be accepted.

(Behaar-Ol-Anwaar, …)

Allah does not need our worship; it is us who need to sincerely and humbly, obey and worship Allah -the way He wishes- so that His blessings may be bestowed upon our hearts, minds, souls, bodies and… . When Eblis -the lord of satans, who had worshipped Allah for thousands of years- was asked to fall in prostrate before Adam (PBUH), he refused. Eblis’s arrogance, jealousy and selfishness were the reasons for his disobedience. Eblis asked Allah that He would let him worship Him some other way but Allah responded that His worship was the way He wished, not the way Eblis wished. Acceptance of the Prophet Adam’s (PBUH) superiority was not the same as worshipping Adam, rather due to the fact that the acceptance of Adam’s superiority was Allah’s command, therefore it was the obedience and worship of Allah Himself.

In the same manner, circumambulating Ka’bah is not the worship of stones, rather due to the fact that pilgrimage of Ka’bah and Hajj are Allah’s commands therefore, they are the obedience to and worship of Allah Himself. The key is the obedience to Allah.

Submission to Allah-Bestowed Wilayat of Mohammad and his progeny (PBUT) -as the most perfect and beautiful creations of Allah- due to the fact that it is Allah’s command, it is therefore, the obedience to and worship of Allah Himself.

When a person truly perceives the love, mercy and Omnipotence of Allah, then the result shall surely be humbleness, submission and love.
