Divinely Bestowed Knowledge

The Prophet Mohammad (PBUH&HP) has said:

O’ Allah! Show me my brothers!

One of the Prophet’s companions asked: O’ Prophet of Allah! Are we not your brothers (in faith)?

The Prophet Mohammad (PBUH&HP) responded:

No, you are my Ashaab (companions); my brothers are those who shall come at the Last Days and they will believe in me, without seeing me; Allah has introduced them -by their names and their fathers’ names- to me, before being located from their fathers Solbs (backs) into their mothers wombs … .

(Behaar-Ol-Anwaar, 52nd vol, …)

Previously, we had briefly mentioned this very important fact that those who remain true Believers in the Final Days -specially during the Disappearance of Imam Mahdi (PBUH), the last Successor of the most beloved Prophet- are honored to be considered as the brothers and sisters of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH&HP) and we have wished from the bottom of our hearts, that -although undeserving- Allah, the most bounteous, may consider us among those blessed ones.

But here, we wish to pay special attention to another important fact mentioned by our beloved Prophet, in this Hadith. The Divine Prophet has reminded humankind that Allah introduced the blessed ones of the Last Days to him, before their existence in this world! Obviously, the Knowledge of Allah -as the Creator of time and space- encompasses all times and places and therefore, nothing is unknown to Allah (Qur’an, Surah Hashr, verse 22,… ); Also, Allah does as He wishes Wisely (Qur’an, Surah Hajj, verse 14,…).

Qur’an clearly indicates that Allah bestows the Knowledge of the unknown, the unseen, the secret, … (the Ghaib) to whomever Allah is pleased with (Qur’an, Surah Jinn, verses 26-27, …). Mohammad and his progeny (PBUT) -as the most perfect creations of Allah- have been chosen by Allah Himself; while they are human beings but they are purified and infallible, their Knowledge is Divinely bestowed, thus they are very different from the rest of us. May humankind humbly never forget their Divinely bestowed superiority.

As mentioned verses 26 & 27 of Surah Jinn in Qur’an indicate that Allah may bestow upon whom He sends and is pleased with, some Knowledge of the unseen (the Ghaib); based on Qur’an and Hadith, it is more than obvious that Allah is pleased with His Prophet (Qur’an, Surah Saba’, verse 28; Qur’an, Surah Zokhrof, verse 43;… ). Repeatedly, the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH&HP) mentioned that he had taught the Knowledge he knew to Ali -PBUH- (Sermon of Ghadir,… ) and also both the Shi’ah and the Sunni have narrated this Hadith that the Prophet said that he was the city of Knowledge and Ali, its Gateway (Shi’ah documents: Ehtejaaj,… ; Sunni documents: Sahih Termadhi,… ).

This fact applies to all 12 Allah-chosen Successors of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUT); for instance, the leaders of Sunni sects -who lived the same time as Imam Saadeq, the 6th Imam of the Shi’ah; while the Imam of the Shi’ah, Imam Ali, lived at time of the Prophet and was chosen by Allah Himself- confessed that they knew no one more Knowledgeable and pious than Imam Saadeq (PBUH). One of those Sunni leaders -No’maan Ebne Thaabet (Abu Hanifah)- even said that, if it was not for the two years which he was a student of Imam Saadeq, he would have died! But Abu Hanifah, under the influence of the ruling government, deviated from the path of Imam Saadeq (PBUH) and originated his own sect (i.e. about one century after the Prophet), which was not based on the Prophet-taught teachings of Imam’s path, and the Hanafi sect is one of the current human-originated (not Allah-designated) sects of the Sunni. Again, we must repeat this very important fact that the Shi’ah was not originated by someone years after the Prophet, rather the title Shi’ah was given to the followers of Ali -who are actually the adherents of the Prophet himself- by the Prophet Mohammad -PBUH&HP- (Qur’an, Surah Bayyenah, verse 7).

In addition to the 12 Imams’ inherited Knowledge from the Prophet, they themselves, have been the most exalted Believers -after the Prophet- whom Allah is pleased with and they with Allah (Qur’an, Surah Maa’edah, verse 119; Surah Fajr, verse 27; … ); the Narratives clearly confirm that these types of Qur’anic verses are firstly about the Ahl-Ol-Bayt. This fact is repeated so many times in Islamic sources; in another example, the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH&HP) in his everlasting Sermon of Ghadir, said that Ali was he whom Allah and he (the Prophet) were pleased with.

The Divinely bestowed Knowledge and Position of the Ahl-Ol-Bait (PBUT), are absolutely undeniable; so, the Shi’ah feel humbly honored and thankful for the Guidance of following and obeying the Prophet Mohammad and his progeny (PBUT):

… All Praise be to Allah Who have Guided us to this; and we would have not been Guided, if Allah had not Guided us… .

(Qur’an, Surah A’raaf, verse 43)

O’ Allah! We implore You in the name of Mohammad (PBUH&HP) -Your most perfect creation- to complete Your blessings upon us by letting the Appearance of Mahdi (PBUH) -the last Infallible descendent of Mohammad (PBUH&HP- happen sooner, rather than later… .
